Practical considerations for your premises, operations and energy investment.

Are the solutions different for commercial and industrial sites?

The core technologies are the same: solar PV, battery storage and EV charging. What changes is the design. Electricity demand, operating hours, available space and existing infrastructure determine the appropriate equipment and installation scope.

Does our business need solar, batteries and EV charging together?

No. Each technology should serve a practical need. Solar may be useful on its own; storage needs to be assessed against surplus generation and later demand. Charging can be included where staff, visitors or business vehicles need it. The systems can be planned together without assuming that every site needs all three.

Is our roof suitable for solar panels?

Available roof area is only a starting point. Roof condition, structure, shading and access need consideration, alongside electrical capacity and the timing of your electricity use. A large roof does not automatically mean that the largest possible system is the right choice.

Can renewable energy be installed at leased premises?

Landlord consent, roof rights and the remaining lease term need to be considered. Include ownership or lease details with your enquiry so the proposal reflects both the property arrangements and technical suitability.

How are savings and system size assessed?

Recent bills and consumption data help compare expected generation with electricity used on site. Tariffs, installation costs, operating hours and future changes in demand all affect the assessment. There is no single saving or payback period that applies to every business.

Can installation be planned around trading hours or production?

Discuss operating schedules, access restrictions and planned shutdowns early. The installation programme needs to account for staff, customers, safe working areas and any electrical interruptions. The arrangements depend on the site and agreed scope.

Will battery storage provide power during an outage?

Not automatically. Backup operation requires a system designed for the intended loads and safe operation during a supply interruption. This requirement should be raised during the initial discussion rather than assumed to be included with any solar or battery installation.

How do we choose commercial EV charging equipment?

Start with the vehicles that will use it, how long they park and when they need to be ready. The charging layout and equipment must also account for available supply capacity and the building’s other electrical loads. A site assessment establishes an appropriate specification.
